Franklin was born to Franklin and Frances Hite on the 19th of May, 1946.  Growing up in the Palmyra area he attended local schools and graduated with the Palmyra Area High School Class of 1965.  After graduation he worked for the Hershey Chocolate Company.

He was drafted in November of 1965.  After his basic training he was sent to school for food service and thereafter assigned to Vietnam.  He fell when the armored personnel carrier in which he was riding went out of control and overturned in a water-filled ditch.  He was bringing food and other supplies to the troops engaged in Operation Junction City in War Zone 'C' near the Cambodian border.

He was awarded the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.  He also received the Vietnam Campaign Medal from the Republic of Vietnam.

Besides his parents he is survived by two sisters, Margie and Jennie; and four brothers, Charles, James, Robert and George.
