Fell March 19, 1969

George was born in Lancaster on the 20th of July, 1950 to Daniel and Nancy Myers.  He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, and graduated with the Class of 1968 from Manheim Township High School.  He was active in the Boy Scouts of America where he achieved the rank of Life Scout, and was also a member of The Order of the Arrow.  He was also a former member of Scout Troops 102 and 140.

He enlisted in the Marines during the summer of 1968 and after completing basic and advanced training was assigned to Vietnam.  After arriving in country he was assigned to Battery D, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment of the 1st Marine Division as a Field Artillery Cannoneer.  He fell as a result of small arms fire when a Marine fire base at Phu Loc 6, six miles North of An Hoa in Quang Nam, was attacked and partially overrun by an enemy battalion.

He was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal  from the United States.  He also received the Vietnam Campaign Medal from the Republic of Vietnam.

George was interred at Gettysburg National Cemetery.  Besides his parents he was survived by a brother, Andrew.
