Fell August 24, 1966

Jerry was born on the 17th of April, 1947 to Mr. and Mrs. Warren W. Nye.  Residing in the Hummelstown area he attended Lower Dauphin High School.

He enlisted in the Marines in March of 1965.  Upon arrival in Vietnam he was assigned to Company G, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment of the 3rd Marine Division.  Non-specific information shows him as a ground casualty and died outright from hostile gunshot or small arms fire in Quang Tri Province.

Notice of his loss was listed in a November 12, 1982 article in the Lebanon Daily News.  A search of the Lebanon Daily News for the months of August and September, 1966 shows no obituary notice being published.  The Patriot News reported his loss on August 31, 1966.

He was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal  from the United States.  He also received the Vietnam Campaign Medal from the Republic of Vietnam.

He was survived by his father, Warren; and a brother, Cary. Efforts to find his mother were unsuccessful.
