Fell May 28, 1968

Randy was born in Reading, Pennsylvania to Willard and Violet Huber on the 19th of October, 1948.  Growing up in the Bethel area he was truly a mountain man.  He lived for the times he could be hunting and fishing.  He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America being a member of Troop 189 of Bethel Salem Lutheran Church, where he also worshipped.  He was a student at Tulpehocken High School.

He enlisted in the Marines in January, 1967.  After his basic training at Parris Island, South Carolina, and advanced training, (possibly at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina), he reported to Vietnam on the 3rd of March, 1968.  He was assigned to Company F, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment of the 1st Marine Division.  He fell while he was in a forward observation post.  When his unit came under a human wave attack he stayed in his forward position, adjusting mortar fire, until he was overwhelmed by superior numbers.

He was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. The government of Vietnam awarded him the Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Military Merit Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Besides his parents he was survived by a brother, Steven.
