A source of information shows he was born in Whitefish, Montana to Vincent A. Hoerner and his wife Dorothy nee Warner.  The source also shows that Raymond had three brothers, Eddy, Gary and Benny; and four sisters, Mary, Theresa, Joan and Marjorie.

He fell in Binh Duong, South Vietnam as a result of multi-fragment wounds by hostile ground forces.

To date, no connection to Dauphin or Lebanon Counties has been found.  He is listed on the Derry Township War Memorial, but official records state that his home of record is Butte, Montana.

He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.  He also received the Vietnam Campaign Medal from the Republic of Vietnam.
