Fell November 17, 1968

Thomas was born on the 1st of February, 1944 to Leroy and Miriam Reich of Lebanon.  Residing later in Cleona, he attended Cornwall High School.  In high school he was active in theater productions, track, chorus, and was Class President in his Junior and Senior years.  After graduation in 1962 he was accepted at Penn State University.

At Penn State he was accepted into the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and held numerous leadership positions in the student government.  In 1966 he graduated with a degree in Business Administration and was also awarded a commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.

He was accepted into Flight School, and after training in the F-4 Phantom Fighter he was assigned to Vietnam.  He arrived in country on the 24th of September, 1968 and was assigned to the 115th Fighter Attack Squadron, 13th Marine Air Group, 9th Marine Brigade.  He fell when his fighter was hit by ground fire.  He was engaged in bombing runs in support of Marine ground forces at the time.

He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Air Medal, the National Defense Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal.  The Republic of Vietnam awarded him the National Order of Vietnam, Fifth Class, the Cross of Gallantry with Palm and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Besides his mother, Mrs. Miriam Spahr, and step-father, Richard Spahr, he was survived by sisters, Lynne and Susan; and a brother, Richard.
